Pristine Canyon & Lake

Ribariće-Gazivode Lake

Formed in the late 1970s by a massive damming project along the Ibar river, the Ribariće-Gazivode lake is a stunning artificial reservoir stretching through a deep, dramatic mountain canyon. Surrounded by steep, evergreen-draped limestone cliffs, the lake offers a wild, untouched landscape that acts as a natural escape for outdoor enthusiasts.

Spanning over 24 kilometers in length, the lake boasts deep, emerald waters that are exceptionally clean. The Ribariće section, situated closer to Novi Pazar, features scenic bays, bridges, and lakeside family-owned fish restaurants serving fresh trout, making it a popular weekend spot for locals.

For adventure travelers, Ribariće-Gazivode is a prime destination for watersports. The calm water surface and gentle winds are perfect for kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding (SUP), and sailing. Motorboat excursions can be arranged to cruise deep into the canyon where the cliffs narrow, revealing hidden waterfalls and roosting locations for local eagles and birds of prey.

Along the shores are multiple remote, grassy meadows that are highly suitable for wild lakeside camping. Waking up to the mist rising from the calm canyon water and the calling of eagles offers an unforgettable experience of the Balkan wilderness.

By connecting with our collective, we can organize kayak rentals, private boat tours with local fishermen, airport transport, and camping equipment setup on the best lakeside viewpoints.
