The Ancient World & Petrova Crkva
The Church of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul — Petrova crkva — is the oldest intact church in Serbia, founded around 820, with layers reaching back to the 4th–9th centuries on a site of even older sacred use.
Why it matters
It was the baptismal church of the Nemanjić dynasty and the region's ecclesiastical seat; beneath it, archaeologists found a famous Iron Age princely grave. Here the ancient and medieval worlds are stacked on a single hill.
